NFL 2009 Season Opener – Style Points 0; Win 1

The 2009 NFL season is officially underway.  In front of a record home crowd of 65, 110 all dressed in black and gold, the Steelers narrowly defeated the Titans 13-10 in the opening game of the season.
THAT was ugly  ladies and gentleman.  But I will take the check in the win column and keep on [...]

2009 NFL Kickoff – I’m ready, are you?

The day is almost here.
You know what day….September 10, 2009 – otherwise known as NFL Kickoff Day!
That day we have been anxiously awaiting since February.  Sure, there have been glimmers of fun since Super Bowl Sunday…tweeting the draft and meeting @NFLPRGuy (aka Brian McCarthy) as the NFL finally caught up with the rest of us [...]

Defense wins championships, and fully entertains me along the way!!

So, in following up with the top NFL defenses poll, I want to highlight what undoubtedly is my favorite part of the football game. Big, daunting defensive tackles, swift linebackers and lean and mean cornerbacks and safeties – bring on a hard hitting game of football and it’s always a great game.
Great defenses negate the [...]

Bye Nate, we'll miss you (I think)

Nate Washington, the Steelers #3wide out, has signed a deal with the Titans.  I’m not surprised, but I am a little sad.  His numbers don’t make you scream “best wide receiver ever” with 40 receptions for 631 yards and 3 touchdowns, but Nate could be counted on.  When Hines was out, Nate did a great job [...]

Those crazy folks on the west coast

My friend @StephanieinCA writes a funny blog URBZEN which I am totally addicted to and always waiting for a new post.  Well, today she wrote a post for football fans that includes a great flowchart for the AFC…
I recommend checking it out.
Let me know what you think….though I do need to talk to her about [...]

Wildcard Weekend Wrap Up

Since this is a blog about my beloved Steelers and they are an AFC team, I’m sticking with the AFC theme until closer to the Super Bowl.
First up – Colts vs Chargers.
This was a great game.  Both teams were competitive and while Philip Rivers didn’t have an earth shattering night, he did his job – [...]

Movin' on – to the Titans and Playoffs

[polldaddy poll=1202782]OK, so I am leaving the Ravens game alone now.  Not even gonna talk about it anymore.
On to the Titans.
I’m mixed this week.  I’d love to see my team win the #1 spot in the AFC and have home field advantage throughout the playoffs but it seems, this year, that they play better on [...]

Tennessee IS Beatable….

And the Jets just proved it by spanking them….34-13.
This goes to show that the Steelers CAN and SHOULD win the rest of their games if they are focused.
Watching Tennessee play today was not very impressive.  There is no reason the Steelers can’t beat them.
But first we need to get through the Patriots, Dallas and Baltimore.
Can [...]
