Hines Ward: Football Player or Dirty Player?
Or is it just that the rest of the league is made up of a bunch of non-football playing pansies?
According to Sports Illustrated, Hines was voted dirtiest player by his peers.
Peers being operative word here.
This is football boys&girls. If I didn’t want to see hard hits, I would watch basketball every day. (Sorry Vice Chairman) I watch football because my inner linebacker loves hard hitting smashmouth football. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Plus, you know he will block, you KNOW he will, so your defensive coordinator should have a play ready. If not, well, get ready to be on your back. I think Hines is one of the best wideouts in the league. Glad he’s a Steeler, he rocks.

Walk away Lee…bite tongue and walk away.
Ok. Time to get Ravens Nation mad at me, but I’m gonna say it anyway.
Hines Ward. Tough physical player. Dirty hits? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, if the wide receiver’s job is to block downfield, I’d like someone like him on my side rather than against me. If he was on your team, and did some of the things he’s done, he be a hero. Not a big fan of the smiling, though.
All that said, the first time someone knocks him on his ass, I won’t be all that upset.
You love him. If he wore purple, you would think like Tracy
The VERY FIRST THING WE WERE TAUGHT WHEN WE WERE LITTLE WAS THIS:
Play until the whistle blows.
I think anyone who has played football ALWAYS had at least one person on the field that did that and caught cats like Hines does.
You know I love him. Even when he does get hit (he has gotten his clocked clean too Tracy!), he smiles, gets back up and you can HURRY UP AND BELIEVE, that person is gonna get hit back.
You gotta love the best blocking WR in the game.
If he’s being called a dirty player for blocking, then it really is the No Fun League. As a wide receiver, you’re one of 11 players on the field that has to be accounted for, if he doesn’t lay a block like that, his team doesn’t move the ball up field. I wish more wide outs had the heart that Hines Ward has and took pride in all aspects of the game.
Did it explain why though? Why would he be called dirty for blocking… maybe there is more to how he plays.
“Dirty”….. I don’t get that at all!!! He is just a stellar blocking receiver–guess defensive players feel they loose their “street cred” if they get creamed by a receiver. LOL! Go Steelers!!!!!!!!!
