The life of a blogger is tough, especially when it’s not your “day” job.  I know I am late on this post, but apparently, so do the other readers of my blog (my dad) based on emails I have received.  You will have to forgive me, but a girl (even a SteelerGurl) has got to pay the bills.

First, I want to send a special shout out to SG’s Vice Chairman who rocked in finding the perfect sports bar and the perfect seats for me to watch the game while we were in New Orleans.  Despite being surrounded by closet Vikings fans – and Brett Favre fans (who knew THEY existed) it was probably the BEST Football Sunday ever (excluding every Super Bowl Sunday the Steelers have ever played in). This game was Super Bowl caliber however, and a great game to watch, even if I was nail biting at times.

I’m not sure I could have screamed much louder on Woodley’s 77-yard fumble return or Keyaron Fox’s 82-yard interception return.  The defense finally showed up and made big plays.  In fact, Pittsburgh’s defense scored more points in the 4th quarter than the Vikings offense did during the entire game.  As Steelers fans we’re spoiled.  Our defense is always good, though it wasn’t spectacular so far.  They haven’t allowed any rushers more than 100 yards all season and yet, we – me included – was screaming about how bad they were playing until this past game.  Of course, in the NFL, it’s not enough to just play good, you have to make big plays and be exceptional. *clap clap* Welcome back gentlemen, happy to have you during this stretch of the season, and happy to see big plays.

The offense looked less than stellar. The Vikings defense came to play and they put pressure on Ben.  Ben completed 14 of 26 for 175 yards and 1 touchdown.  It’s not often you see stats like this, but Hines had 1 catch for just 3 yards.  You did not read that wrong.  That’s it,  3 yards.  Precisely why the Steelers defense needed to play big. Stats weren’t much better across the board.  We all know the outcome of the game, so I will save you all from reading the stats five days later (yeah, I know I am late, it won’t happen again).

I’m just ready to begin the second stretch of the season.  It’s now time to play big and take us to Miami.
