The Steelers announced final cuts today.
Can’t say I am not disappointed to see Isaac Redman’s name on the list of players cut today. In the pre-season game against Carolina, the kid had a team high 79 yards rushing on 12 carries with one TD which was scored from 10 yards out to give Pittsburgh a 14-0 lead. He’s rumored to possibly be back on practice squad. Hopefully that’s the case. I’d hate to see him get away.
Practice squad information will be finalized by tomorrow.
The Steelers also released the following players: QB Mike Reilly; RB’s Carey Davis and Justin Vincent; WR’s Dallas Baker, Tyler Grisham and Brandon Williams; TE Dezmond Sherrod; OL Jason Capizzi, Jeremy Parquet and A.Q. Shipley; defensive lineman Sonny Harris, Steve McClendon and Scott Paxson; LB’s Bruce Davis, Tom Korte, Andy Schantz and Donovan Woods; defensive backs Roy Lewis and Anthony Madison; and kicker Piotr Czech.
I don’t think any of those cuts are surprising to anyone. Though would have been nice to keep Ship (coming from fellow PSU grad) on the roster. Perhaps he will be on the practice squad as well.
Veteran TE Sean McHugh was placed on the Injured Reserve list and will miss the entire 2009 season after hurting his knee during training camp.
So, there you have it…the final 53.
