Steelers intend to release Larry Foote

Yesterday, the Steelers announced they intend to release seven-year veteran LB Larry Foote.  Foote, at only 28, is still a productive LB playing 110 games, with 83 starts, including two Super Bowl victories. Foote has played in all 16 games for six straight seasons and started all 16 contests each of the past five years. A former University [...]

Building the champs of the future

Finishing off the final rounds today of the NFL draft, the Steelers picked up a few more good depth players including Joe Burnett, CB out of Central Florida.  The 5′9″ 192 First Team All-American in 2008 brings above average strength to the Steelers secondary along with versatility.  He earned a total of eight All-Conference USA [...]

Steelers build depth with third round picks

Today, the Steelers had three picks in the third round.  They chose Kraig Urbik, a 6′5″ 328lb guard who was a 4-year starter for the Wisconsin Badgers.  Urbik played both right tackle and right guard which gives him some versatility the Steelers need on the O-line.  Over the last two seasons, he only allowed 2 [...]

Welcome to Steeler Nation, Ziggy.

With the last pick in the first round – a spot I will take every year, by the way – the Steelers chose Missouri DT, Evander “Ziggy” Hood.  The 6′4″ 295lb will likely play defensive end backing up Aaron Smith and Brett Kiesel.  Hood is the first defensive lineman the Steelers have drafted in the [...]

Hines Ward will remain a Steeler

Yesterday,  in a deal worth reportedly $22 million over the term of the contract, Hines Ward renegotiated to stay with the Steelers through 2013.  Essentially, he will finish what he started- an outstanding career as a wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
At 33, Ward has  800 career catches for 9,780 yards and 72 touchdowns.  He [...]

Do you believe in the curse?

I personally don’t believe in the curse.  I’m remaining positive because I can’t even begin to think about the Steel Curtain without Troy.
So, tell me, what do you think about Troy donning the Madden cover?
Are we cursed?
(By the way, these are two of my favorite players to watch. I couldn’t be more excited to see [...]

The 2009 Steelers Schedule

When looking at the 2009 schedule, one things crosses my mind. I’m going to have to cash in and get the NFL Ticket. With this many 1:00pm games, and living in the Ravens/Redskins corridor, I won’t see any Steelers games, except those against Baltimore. One of which is prime time – go figure.
The schedule, at [...]

Addressing the Gaps

As the NFL draft approaches (April 25-26), and the Steelers begin to finalize the roster, you can bet on a few things, some of which we’ve already seen play out: the Steelers rarely, if ever, overpay veteran players , they are known to sign their own free agents first and they always draft well.  Today, [...]

Steeler Nation on Twitter

To show true world black and gold domination, I have created a wiki page of all Twitter users who are Steelers fans.  Obviously, this will be a continuous work in progress always updating and changing.  But for purposes of just “rallying the troops,” I thought this would be a great way to find and follow [...]
