Cassell, the Pats and a victory

I’m going to say exactly what Anthony Smith said in an interview with the Indiana Gazette.
“If they ask me again, I’ll say the same thing,” said Smith.  “We’re the number one defense.  If we play like we’ve been playing, and our offense comes around and has a good game and we’re clicking on all cylinders, [...]

Kickers and Punters can help win or lose a game

Jeff Reed has won Pittsburgh plenty of games.  I’m a huge fan.  Getting in field goal range is pretty much a guaranteed 3 when you’ve got Reed…he averages 94.7 pecent this year and his long is 53 yds.
But punters….ugh.  After Sepulveda got hurt , punting hasn’t been great…
But today, the Steelers signed Mitch Berger who [...]

Who's hot in AFC North?

If you read James Walker’s blog – you would know it’s Dick LeBeau and Troy Polamalu, and oh yeah, Ed Reed (a gimme for my friends who happen to be Ravens fans).
With the best defense in the NFL, the Steelers Dick LeBeau is a genius.  I still say, if we have a focused offense and [...]

Tennessee IS Beatable….

And the Jets just proved it by spanking them….34-13.
This goes to show that the Steelers CAN and SHOULD win the rest of their games if they are focused.
Watching Tennessee play today was not very impressive.  There is no reason the Steelers can’t beat them.
But first we need to get through the Patriots, Dallas and Baltimore.
Can [...]

The "Hog" Package….I'm not sure I buy it…

In the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Ed Bouchette talks about the Steelers “Hog” offense but I am not sure I buy it working or creating a big enough gap for Fast Willie to take off….
Here’s what Ed says:
“It’s a version of the old single wing, where the snap goes directly to a running back instead of the [...]

Polamalu to star in Coke commercial remake

Twenty-nine years after Joe Greene became a star in a Coca-Cola commercial, Troy Polamalu will be cast in the remake.
Polamalu, a four-time Pro Bowl strong safety, will revise the role that Greene played in the 1980 Super Bowl ad. It too will be shown during the Super Bowl.
In the original commercial, Greene limps through a [...]

Five games and penalty free

In the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Hines Ward said:
“I can’t say enough about our team. We fought hard all year to this point. We still have a lot of room for improvement. We left a lot of plays out there on the field, but all in all, it’s all about wins and losses. And we’re 8-3 right [...]

Who is gonna protect Ben?

Granted, he does hold on extra long to the ball in the pocket these days….
But still, where’s the protection?
I’m saying that Coach should be thinking extra long about where to get the folks to add extra protection to the O-line…
Luckily, Jerry Kohlman provided some research for the Steelers coaches as they look at the draft…
I [...]

The running game….

Today, while keeping up with my Steelers news, I was reading James Walker’s “Voice of the People” and I realized I totally agree with Jason Miller of Danville….why is it that Willie Parker, while fast, cant get any open field to even show how fast he is.
All season Mewelde Moore has shown us time and [...]
