It doesn't take a subscription to ESPN Insider to see the top spot for the list, thank god, because otherwise we wouldn't have ever known. ESPN uses a bunch fancy terms in order to tell you that all of these players have value. OK, fantastic, they do their job well, apparently there has to be a logarithm adjusted parabola that computes added value in order to see that Derrick Mason catches balls. Here is ESPN's version of doing your job well: "Mason has seven different seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards and ranks seventh overall in total wide receiver DYAR for the decade. He ranked among the top 20 wide receivers in DYAR (total value) for five straight years in Tennessee, then did it again last year in Baltimore. He also ranked among the top four wide receivers in DVOA (value per play) three times in four years (2000, 2001 and 2003), and he has put up an above average catch rate every single year this decade, including two years over 70 percent. Yet somehow, he's only made two Pro Bowls." Either way, their fancy college learned math talk is right. Mason does his job, and deserves to be finally recognized. It is not shocking he's on this list because he plays a position where he is not the norm, a 6-foot-something prima donna. Mason is a humble wide receiver who sends his kids to Garrison Forrest and likes to fall on the ground immediately following his hands touching a football. So anyways, congrats Derrick, and please continue to be Joe's favorite target and keep falling down -- as long as you have possession and its in front of the first down marker.
