Belichick Blunder?

BOSTON- Despite the Colts 35-34 stunning win over the Patriots last night, Bill Belichick is still the best coach in the NFL. Immediately after the game concluded, the questions started pouring in about if Belichick had made the right coaching decision. Slowly out of the quiet New England towns complaints seemed to be thrown around like a Tom Brady touchdown pass; frequently and with precision.
Belichick made the right decision, plain and simple. I would have done the exact same thing if I were in his situation. The reality is that Peyton Manning was going to score. It does not matter if Manning starts his game winning drive on his own one-yard line or the Patriots five-yard line. Just like Tom Brady, Manning performs with the game on the line. The best chance for the Patriots to win the game was to continue the drive down field. I would like to point out that Faulk did have the first down, and the only thing fans can question Belichick about was his use of his team’s timeouts. With zero timeouts remaining, the Patriots couldn’t challenge the ruling on the field, resulting in a turnover on downs.
It’s kind of funny how things work out. If the Patriots converted on that fourth down nobody would have questioned Belichick. Instead, all of New England and half of the world would have praised him for his wise and well-established intelligence. As soon as Faulk got driven back five yards and forward progress mysteriously didn’t matter, fans looked to blame someone. In that very instant Bill Belichick become the scapegoat, nothing more, nothing less.

It seemed that when Faulk finally locked the ball down, he was behind the first down line. I don't agree with the call honestly. Yes Manning would still have probably scored but why not make him work for it and show some confidence in the defense? I would be pissed if I'm a NE defender sitting there watching my coach go for it at that point-shows no faith. You punt and make them beat you.

I'm trying hard to come up with some smartass remark about him needing film for something, but I'm just not getting it today. Tough call for anybody to make. I probably would've kicked it away, but then I'm not a coach, either.

I would have punted. At least the defense has a chance to make a play if Manning has 70 yards to go.
