It’s cool everybody, its cool. The song wasn’t about McNair and Kazemi. Kate Howard of the Tennessean reports that the song “Closed Casket” is geared towards Crystal Norfleet, Keith’s sis – you see Crystal’s husband cheated on her with a much younger woman. Benjamin T-bo is Crystal’s husband and the subject of the song. Whew, you know I’m glad that was all cleared up by Norfleet’s sister, who explains that Keith grieves through his music, which probably accounts for all of its vividness and guilt (wait, what?). Here’s the excerpt from Howard’s article: “But Norfleet has spoken out through his family, saying that song had nothing to do with his ex-girlfriend and McNair, and that he’s simply trying to grieve and understand the loss of the woman he was with for four years. The song, his sister Crystal Norfleet said, was about her own husband. He cheated on her with a much younger woman, and her pain deeply affected her brother.“ “Music is an outlet for him,” she said. “He puts his emotions on pen and paper, and that’s where they stay… he never wrote that with Steve and Jenny (Sahel) in mind.“ Now we can all rest that the fictional murder victim in Keith’s lyrics is NOT Steve McNair. Wow, well that was a close one. Discuss amongst yourselves.
