The two time Fighting Irish captain recently gave us a few minutes of his time as he prepares for the NFL Draft.  Thanks to Shawn Smith at XAM Sports for his help putting this together.

TG365 - Where are you working out and who are some of the players you are training with?

MC - I've been working out at Athletes' Performance Institute in Pensacola, FL.  I've been working out with some of the following guys: Gerald Cadogan, (Penn State); Roger Allen, (Missouri Western); Dicky Lyons (Kentucky); Jamon Meredith (South Carolina); Glen Coffee (Al); Andre Caldwell (FL); and James Davis (Clemson).

TG365 - What are your workout numbers?

MC - Here are my goals:

  • 20 reps on the bench
  • 4.65 in the 40
  • 4.3 in short shuttle
  • 7  in the 3-cone
  • 33"  vertical
  • 9 ‘ broad

TG365 - Who was the best player you faced in your career?

MC - It would be a tie between Jake Long and Reggie Bush.

TG365 - You were only the 17th player in Notre Dame History to be named captain in consecutive seasons.  How much of an honor was that?

MC - It was a huge honor mostly because I was voted on by my teammates and to know that's how they viewed me motivated me everyday to be an excellent leader.

TG365 - What does it mean to you to wear the blue and gold?

MC - It's a tremendous honor simply because of the history behind Notre Dame and to know that I'm a part of that history.  Its' definitely something that is very special to me.

TG365 - Considering the fact that your dad played for the University of Miami during the heated UM/ND matchups of the late 80's, how did he react to you signing with Notre Dame?

MC - It was very important in my decision and my parents have been supportive of my decision.

TG365 - Growing up was there an NFL team you dreamed about playing for?

MC - Not really it was just always just a dream to get into the NFL.

TG365 - Tell us about your charity work.  Do you plan to expand on this once in the NFL?

MC - Yes, I really plan on expanding my charity work at the next level.  The one charity that I'm very involved in is SBIG (Students Bridging the Information Gap) http://www.sbigonline.org/.

TG365 - Have you ever played as yourself in the NCAA Football video games?

MC - One time when I first was on it. It was one of the coolest things in my life.

TG365 - What would we find on your IPod?

MC - Probably every soul and R&B song known to man.

TG365 - And now we want to give you a chance to brag a little with a simple question.  Maurice Crum, why are you so awesome?

MC - I would say it is my hardworking personality and I am passionate about whatever I'm involved in and that helps me in everything I do.
