No. Its fun for what it is, that's for sure. I like the graphics, cartoony, but yet well polished. Its just one of those rpg's that appears to be more action oriented. I could see people really enjoying it for what it is.

I'm just being stupid. Its fun. I've just been pissy lately. My vending machine of a body is rejecting no soda, one cup of coffee, no cigs, no chew, no fun. I'm going to jab a carrot in someone's skull.

What about orange flavored chicken? It's the fuel that makes the body go!

Actually, just fruit is doing a body good. The veggies I'm sure are good, but really no turbo boost.

I am about 12 hours into this game. It is better than I thought. Good story and combat is fun. Combines the treasure hunt and crafting of weapons and armor in a nice way. Level up skill trees to define your game play. I am liking it.

Is the strategy involved in the combat somewhat complex or is it more arcadey?

Combat is active and requires button mashing. But not so complicated it requires you to get a sore thumb. I would call it balanced between arcade and strategy. More like combat in MMORPG games. Without team play.

I am deep in the game and still loving it! Reminds me more and more of Torchlight on steroids.

Looks like 38 Studios is having some financial issues.

From Gamasutra

The Rhode Island government is meeting with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning studio 38 Studios today to discuss what can be done to protect taxpayer money, after the studio this week failed to make a scheduled $1.125 million loan repayment.

The studio was granted a $75 million loan from the government-owned Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation in 2010, after 38 Studios agreed to move its operations to Rhode Island. The details of the agreement stated that the studio had to fill 450 full-time employee positions to receive the full amount.

However, earlier this week it was revealed that the studio is currently suffering from financial issues, with Governor Chafee commenting that he was "doing everything possible to ensure that 38 Studios stays part of the Rhode Island community."

As reported by the Associated Press, it has now been stated that these talks have been occurring as a result of 38 Studios failing to make a scheduled $1.125 million payment to the state's economic development agency.

An emergency meeting between the agency and the game studio has been scheduled for today, to address an "unexpected occurrence that requires immediate action to protect the public regarding 38 Studios."

The loan was put in place back in 2010 to fund the studio's MMO Copernicus, which the company is still keeping under the radar. In the meantime, 38 Studios released Kingdoms of Amalur earlier this year, which when on to sell 330,000 copies in the U.S. during its first month on sale.

I feel no pity for these guys. Poorly managed companies should go the fuck out of business and governments who make risky and stupid loans should get blasted in the media so the crooked fucking lawmakers get ran out of town on a rail.

I love Schilling but odd how he all of a sudden is quiet when he normally loves a microphone in his face.

Looks like the studio couldn't make payroll, and laid off all Temps and Contractors.

The more I read about this the more f'ed up it gets. The government is doing everything it can to publicly bash this company that it should be supporting. Schilling says he has $50m invested overall and will lose it all. That to me is just idiotic. Who in the hell invests that much money into one venture on the hopes that a game will be a hit? So many mistakes all around.
