Tooth & Nail + Nook = U!

The place to talk about books, duh

Tooth & Nail + Nook = U!

I just finished Tooth & Nail (the zombie book) and it has a 'lend me' icon next to it so if anyone with a nook is interested, let me know and I'll fire it off to you.

What did you think of the book? I got about 1/4 the way in and then I think I felt compelled to re-read the DBDA books.

I thought it was a decent read. Slow to start but really picked up at the end. It seemed like a good depiction of the way things would be slowly revealed in that type of situation, it was like the world slowly closed in on them until they realized they were on their own. The big message I took away was Manhattan would not be a good place to be during a zombie outbreak.

I was finding it hard to keep track of the various soldiers' names. Kind of like Black Hawk Down, I never felt emotionally invested in any of them and felt like any of them could be dead within a few pages. As far as I was concerned, they could have been called Generic Soldier #1, Generic Soldier #2, etc. Does that change as the book goes on?

They throw a whole bunch of names and descriptions at you in the beginning but most of those guys don't matter much to the story. There were only two guys in the unit that I ended up keeping track of after a point and they're pretty easy to follow. Everyone else is as you say, just a generic soldier. The two that I focused on were fleshed out pretty well, one was the soldier named Mooney and the other was the leader of the company, can't remember his name but most of the story revolves around him and the tough decisions he has to make.

Glad to hear I am not the only one who felt this way about that movie.

Just to keep ruining a book thread...

There is a music pier in Ocean City, New Jersey where I have only observed older people ever going in there. A few years ago Dokken actually played at that place which was very depressing.
