Super Bowl Foods

Anyone having a party and making something awesome to eat? I am going to my friendly neighborhood sports bar but I am seeing plenty of recipes for awesome food out there. I just printed out a recipe for Old Bay seasoned hot wings. BRILLIANT!

How are you going to make the wings-deep fry or grill?

We did a big menu for the AFC Champ game so I've blown my load since the ravens are out. We'll probably do a few dips and get some wings or something.

Ah I gotcha. Well here's the site I was browsing this morning

http://www.delish.com/entertaining-ideas/party-ideas/super-bowl-food-recipes

I am hungry this morning so everything looks absolutely delicious. Maybe this isn't the right time to post since everyone is dieting LOL

Here's the hot wing recipe, pretty simple. I know you guys don't like baked wings but they can be pretty damn good, although I would probably prefer grilling these. Question, can you grill them with the flour coating or do you just leave that out for grilling? I've never tried it and don't know how it would work out

2 tablespoon(s) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1 tablespoon(s) Old Bay seasoning
2 pound(s) chicken wingettes and drumettes (see Tips & Techniques)
2 1/2 tablespoon(s) red hot sauce, preferably Frank's Red Hot
2 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoon(s) Worcestershire sauce
Directions

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with foil and spray with vegetable oil. In a bowl, mix the flour with the salt and Old Bay seasoning. Add the chicken and toss to coat. Spread the chicken on the baking sheet in a single layer and spray with vegetable oil. Roast the chicken for 45 minutes, turning once or twice, until browned and crispy. In a bowl, toss the chicken wings with the hot sauce, butter, and Worcestershire sauce; serve.

Since I don't have a smoker I may try this one sometime as well. I still have Rabb's recipe printed out and saved for the day I actually get around to buying myself a smoker.

Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork

1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup(s) ketchup
1/3 cup(s) cider vinegar
1/4 cup(s) packed brown sugar
1/4 cup(s) tomato paste
2 tablespoon(s) sweet paprika
2 tablespoon(s) Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoon(s) yellow mustard
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1 1/4 teaspoon(s) ground black pepper
4 pound(s) boneless pork shoulder blade roast (fresh pork butt), cut into 4 pieces
12 soft sandwich buns or ciabatta rolls, warmed
Dill pickles (optional)
Potato chips (optional)
Hot sauce (optional)
Directions

In 4 1/2- to 6-quart slow-cooker pot, stir onion, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, tomato paste, paprika, Worcestershire, mustard, salt, and pepper until combined. Add pork to sauce mixture and turn to coat well with sauce.
Cover slow cooker with lid and cook pork mixture on low setting as manufacturer directs, 8 to 10 hours or until pork is very tender.
With tongs, transfer pork to large bowl. Turn setting on slow cooker to high; cover and heat sauce to boiling to thicken and reduce slightly.
While sauce boils, with 2 forks, pull pork into shreds. Return shredded pork to slow cooker and toss with sauce to combine. Cover slow cooker and heat through on high setting if necessary.
Spoon pork mixture onto bottom of sandwich buns; replace tops of buns. Serve sandwiches with pickles, potato chips, and hot sauce if you like.

I've had a shit ton of old bay wings and they are never coated in wing sauce. Doesn't that sort of kill the fact that they are old bay wings? I'd try these because it's probably a good flavor combo but old bay wings to me aren't sauced like that. I marinate mine in red wine vinegar and a little Worcestershire plus (you don't taste either in the end) old bay then grill-no flour. You get nice grill marks and a lot of the extra fat melts away. Just remember to go low and slow because they take a while.
The places around here that sell them deep fry them then toss in a mixture containing old bay (served dry). Let me know how they turn out if you end up making.

I was thinking about making some chicken legs in the fryer with just flour and old bay coating. I am definitely going to try your red wine vinegar recipe.

You can use any sort of vinegar really. I also add a little bit of oil to keep them from sticking in the beginning.
