It took me forever to get to them ( I had a hard time just reaching the mark on the map), I first found the town then you will see a very long path designated w/ cobblestones leading up the moutain.

Okay. I should be on the right path. Thanks! I stopped at some bridge and killed the bandits holding it down that is along the way... I think.

There are no bandits on bridges along the way. Only wolves and Trolls, and the occasional NPC. The town at the base of the mountain is Ivarstead. There is a bridge from the town to the path. There are 2 dudes on the bridge and one will give you an optional misc quest to bring supplies up to the Greybeards. That's where you need to be pepper.... just follow the path up to the top

I saw you on last night, and if you are still level 6, may I suggest putting your running shoes on? Frost Trolls suck until you level up to "bad ass."

I didn't encounter that bandit hideout on the way to the town. I went from Whiterun across the river and around the north side of the mountain, and found a trail that cut up and over the mountain. If you hit that bandit bridge you probably went too far north.

My problem is I can't have any companions. With no companions I can't kill dragons with my giant hammer, because i have to stand right in front of their giant, firebreathing mouths. Yay buggy software!

My companion died in a vampire lair. I am having issues on quests activating certain points. A child's coffin I was unable to open and on the main quest, I couldn't talk to a person (however, the quest ended up continuing without doing so after about 5 minutes and me restarting it after getting mad and slashing her to bits, pickpocketing her, etc.).

I can hold my own against one. Before my companion died, we took on 3. I have never used a bow before, but its sweet in this one. I have one that traps souls, so I shoot until they get close, switch to a fire stream and hack and slash. for a couple secs until my mana runs out, then run away (usually my companion would be back up and taking shots again... rinse and repeat.

Skyrim

For a while I found them useful while fighting multiple enemies. Now I find they typically get in the way. They do help me carry a lot of loot out of caves and stuff.

I accidentally killed my companion in a fight, I have a hard time telling who is who during a battle.
