From what I am hearing locally this guy buying the team, if ok'ed ny NFL owners, is ready to spend some money. Could be a big change for the Jags as the original owner Weaver spent minimal amounts of cash to get by (except on MJD)

I understand a coach being in the hot seat and taking the blame but it never made sense to me to fire one with 4-5 regular season games left unless a big name was coming in immediately to fill the void.
Fuck-it list: Owls, Ohio, Facebook, Red Wings.

For Sparano he knew this was his last season in Miami anyway. That owner is so big on wanting a high profile name. Remember last season the guy was out courting Harbaugh even with Sparano being his coach.

All I can figure is that McKenzie felt threatened by Hue wanting to make personnel decisions. Or, he was pissed off about not having a pick until round 5.

Stupid, stupid move...and I am saying this as someone who by all rights is happy to see Hue gone from the Raiders. He would have had you guys headed in the right direction IMO.

From Henry Wofford (CSN Oakland Reporter) on Hue Jackson's firing (via twitter):

Just talked to Hue Jackson, who said he was shocked his friend fired him. Reggie McKenzie told him, I want my own guys in here.
Hue Jackson said he's lost for words. He said "He's going to gut this place".
He Jackson had a poor relationship with the players, especially the receivers. He thought they may have cost him his job but was not the case

At face value, I have to agree with you.

Now, IF there was really a problem between him and the players, then MAYBE there was justification in firing. It depends on what the problem was. I can definitely say it looked like they gave up at times late in the year, but it wasn't consistent like Callahan's 03 team either.

If this firing only brings some assistant as HC (ala the Winston Moss rumors I've heard) then this was a dumb move.
