Someone has been taking his work home...

Postby lotus » May 25th, 2011, 12:01 pm

NASCAR driver Kyle Busch was clocked by a North Carolina sheriff's deputy going 128 mph in a 45 mph zone and was cited for careless and reckless driving and speeding, a law enforcement spokesman said Tuesday.

The Iredell County Sheriff's Office said a deputy stopped Busch's 2012 yellow Lexus sports car on a road between Troutman and Mooresville, where the driver lives. It's about 30 miles north of Charlotte.

The spokesman said Busch, 26, was cited and released.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, Busch acknowledged what happened.

"I was test-driving a new sports car and I got carried away," Busch said. "I went beyond the speed I should have been going. ... I apologize ... for my lack of judgment."

NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said Busch would be allowed to race this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

I totally agree. The law is the law and I don't give a fk who you are.

This is NC General Statute § 20‑16.1.

§ 20‑16.1. Mandatory suspension of driver's license upon conviction of excessive speeding; limited driving permits for first offenders.

(a) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Article, the Division shall suspend for a period of 30 days the license of any driver without preliminary hearing on receiving a record of the driver's conviction of either (i) exceeding by more than 15 miles per hour the speed limit, either within or outside the corporate limits of a municipality, if the person was also driving at a speed in excess of 55 miles per hour at the time of the offense, or (ii) driving at a speed in excess of 80 miles per hour at the time of the offense.

It also states that traveling greater than 15 mph over the speed limit results in an automatic guilty plea of a class 2 misdemeanor.

They should have snatched his ass out of the car and taken him to jail.

You ever driven I-75 in FL? I could have taken a nap and not crashed. I could have made it to 120 no problem but decided that probably wasn't the best idea.
