More Melodrama (get it)

Postby RayRay » January 20th, 2011, 10:50 am

Russian owner Mikhail Prokhorov delivered the bombshell to the media on Wednesday night as he made his opening statement after traveling to the United States for what he thought would be a chance to finish the deal to bring Carmelo Anthony to the Nets from the Denver Nuggets.

"I'm not happy with the way ... this deal has gone until now," Prokhorov said. "It has taken too long. It has been played out in public and it certainly has taken a toll on the players and I believe that it has cost us several games. I think management did a great job, but there comes a time when the price is simply too expensive. I'm instructing our team to walk away from the deal."

I don't see this automatically meaning he goes to NY because I don't think the pieces line up without a third team.

The guess here is that if the Knicks acquire Anthony, they will give up Chandler or Gallinari (not both), Fields, Walker, Anthony Randolph (or a No. 1 obtained through a Randolph trade), Eddy Curry, plus an additional No. 1 pick (perhaps New York's own 2014 pick), with the Knicks getting back an additional big body -- something they've been scouring the league for throughout December and the first half of January. And I'm not necessarily saying the Nuggets would be taking on all those pieces, because a three-team trade might make it easier for everyone to walk away satisfied.

I don't think the Nets are fully out of it yet. How many times do you see a public statement that "we are done" used to help push things along?

Yeah but now the Nuggets have other guys that were included in the trade that need to be dealt. Once those guys are moved, deal is dead anyway.

I'm just so tired of the Melodrama. Go, Stay, get traded to the Nets, get traded to the Knicks, get traded somewhere as a 3 month rental... I don't care, just hurry up and do it.

And please keep Billups in Denver. He deserves it. Let him retire a Nugget. Even if he stops being a starter, he'll be a great Player-Coach for the youngsters the Nuggets plan on bringing in.

If the Nuggets can keep Lawson, Afflalo, Nene, Billups, & Birdman I'll be happy.

I could also care less. I think he's an overrated pile of garbage. Part of the reason I can't stand the NBA is because the best players don't even really pretend to be team guys anymore.

IT WAS AWESOME! I had always said I wanted to move to San Diego or LA because I have family there and I love the vibe & feel of California. I love being that close to the beach. I love the warm (and not humid) weather. But Colorado takes the cake! I know you could say "Well if you love warm weather & beaches, don't come to Colorado." but I loved it! I got to go to Flagstaff & Boulder for a day. We got 5" of snow when I was there. A bus falling off a hillside by the airport made national news. It was awesome!

Unfortunately the Nuggets lost to the Hornets when I was there. I had to wait to see the Nuggets win in Washington about 2 weeks later, my first Nuggets victory.

And yes! It was Kick Ass!
