Yes

For some reason lately I've been hooked on Yes, I only have the Ultimate Hits 35th Anniversary collection but I really dig it. I saw that they are coming out here in concert in August. I know chances are slim but has anyone seen them in concert? Those dudes are getting OOOOOOOOLD. And I have no idea who is even in the band at this point, I know the singer at least is not original.

Anyway I have already committed to going to BB King and Tedeschi Trucks Band in September so that's probably the concert budget, but Yes would be awesome as long as they played the classic old trippy shit and not the 80's pop garbage.

Yes. I've seen them. I'll have to see if I have the ticket stubs still, but in a 4 day period, I saw Yes, Metallica, Pink Floyd and someone else (maybe Soundgarden). Pink Floyd was at Camp Randall in Madison. The other three were at Summerfest in Milwaukee.

I just looked it up and those were the 4 bands I saw on 4 consecutive days in July of 1994. The version of Yes I saw, had a mix of the 90215 guys as well as the earlier guys. I know Anderson was there, but they've had so many line-up changes, I can't keep track of everyone. I honestly remember not being blown away by the show, but given that I'm reviewing a show from 18 years ago, I can't say what they are like today. I believe they have a fairly current concert on Hulu.

Anyone who doesn't like 20 minute Prog tracks is not even human to me.

Clem honestly from what I hear about Summerfest, if you don't go every single year then there's something wrong with you. It sounds like one of the best concerts ever in the history of concerts.

In my opinion, it used to be far better. For those of you unfamiliar with SummerFest, it is a 10 or 11 day music festival on the shore of Lake Michigan. There are a shitload of different stages (rock, country, classic rock, jazz, etc.) and then the main stage (the Marcus Ampitheater). At the smaller stages, acts start playing at 10am and gradually work up to the headliners (usually around 10pm).

What used to make it better was that you could see some pretty decent acts at the smaller stages (now it tends to be either local groups, one-hit wonders, and groups considerably past their prime). Tickets to see groups on the main stage used to always be under $20. I'm pretty sure I paid less than $20 each to see Soundgarden, Yes, Tom Petty, Metallica, Pearl Jam, and others. Now, the tickets cost as much as any concert (when I took Domo to see Rush last year, I think the tickets were $85 plus fees for each seat).

Also, food and beer cost a shitload. I think beer was up to $8 last year. Think about how much coin you'd drop on a hot summer day. Another also, after our long winters, you get to see a lot of dairy-fed Wisconsin women with skin the color of uncooked sausage wearing tube tops (if that's your thing).

I looked at it this morning just out of curiosity and it seemed if you order early enough ahead of time you can get an 11-day pass for 45 bucks. Even if you only go one day and see one big concert that's worth it.
