Yeah, this is a touchy subject. My dad ended his life and its still tough to talk about, but it does help to hear other thoughts... though, I do have to hold my emotions in check... which I'm sure others in here do as well.

It was my understanding that this is a place where that's acceptable, as long as it remains civil...

Agreed, it's a personal topic that is going to invoke some strong feelings. I don't think anyone has attacked anyone personally, and my initial response was more due me feeling like I was being told that I didn't understand what severe depression was and how it can affect a person.

Note: I said that it was my "feeling" -- I'm not saying that I was being attacked, if you see what I'm saying.

Nope, and I didn't intend my comment to be meant as one. Regardless of people's feelings, those impacted by the suicide have a shitty situation to deal with in many ways.
