My Father's Day present to myself

Postby Clem » June 19th, 2012, 4:41 pm

I already told Rabb and Falling Man, but I decided to treat myself to a little Father's day gift...

I'm not even into guitars and just got a little shiver.

That is the Seinfeld jacket of guitar cases.

Looks like an amazing instrument. Makes me wish I could play.

I'm not a huge fan of pickguards on Les Paul types but I like that one on that color body. What pickups are they?

I wonder what a Bonomassa guitar ran through a Brian May effect unit would sound like?

Pretty much like Brian's Red Special. There are settings on the pedal for single coil pick-ups, humbucking pick-ups, or if you actually have the Red Special. Once I learn a few Queen riffs specific to the effects, I'll make a video.

The Epiphone doesn't have the coil-tap volume knobs?

Single coil magnetic pickups found in electric guitars can be coil tapped to reduce the number of windings around the magnet. A tapped single coil pickup typically contains three wires: a ground, an output, and a tapped output - with the two outputs generally wired to a switch on the guitar. The guitarist can then choose between the loud, punchy, midrange-heavy sound of the entire coil, or 'tap' into the inner coil for a quieter, yet bright vintage tone with a more clear and detailed high end.

Very gently pull straight up on the volume knobs. If they slip up, click and stay they are coil-tapped, meaning they shut off half of the humbucker pickup sound to give it a much brighter Strat-sounding output.

Does this help?
