I'm trying to squeeze in as many stouts and porters before it gets warm. Do you get Southern Tier out there?

I know this is going to sound very snobbish but give it some thought. To me what you said above kills the beer. Means you are drinking it too cold and not getting all of the intended flavors. Also, once the liquid hits the cold glass you get condensation which can water down your beer.

I may not have the fanciest palate, but I knows what I likes. I will sacrifice some of the complexity of the flavor spectrum in order to have a nice, frosty beverage.

What did I tell you??? I know I sounded like a dick but I've seen so many people (including me) have that A-HA moment by ditching the super cold beer and cold glasses with really flavorful beer.

Do me a favor next time you drink a good beer because I don't think it takes a fancy palette. Pour half the beer into a room temperature glass and let it come up in temp some. I'm not talking until it gets warm but just until the chill is gone. Put that next to a freezing cold beer in a frozen glass. Compare the taste.
My neighbor recently gave me a really strong tavern ale that he had in his car so nowhere near super cold. I didn't feel like waiting so I drank at and holy shit the flavor was 1000% better than when I drank that same beer later much colder.
