Dawson in HOF as an Expo...yuck

CHICAGO (AP) -Andre Dawson says he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Montreal Expo, despite his preference to go in as a Chicago Cub.

Dawson told WMVP-AM, the ESPN Radio affiliate in Chicago, that he thought Hall of Fame officials would discuss the issue with him in detail before the decision was made.

Dawson said Wednesday that he's "disappointed" he did not have more input in the decision. He says Chicago was his preference.

Dawson played his first 11 seasons with Montreal. He played six seasons with the Cubs, where he won the 1987 National League MVP award. He also played two years each for Boston and Florida.

Dawson is the only player for 2010 to receive at least 75 percent of the vote to be inducted into the hall.

Isn't the Expo's history now in DC? Does that mean he's in as a National??

Oh the horror. I thought he certainly would have had more input as to which team he would represent in the Hall. Just another way baseball often gets it wrong.

No doubt, Lee would prefer to see him in a Cubbie uniform...

growing up in Iowa my grandma and I watched the Cubs all the time together and really they were my team until we moved and the Rockies came to town

The Hawk was by far and away my fave guy to watch

I agree with that and it should be his choice. I think part of the HOF's fear is a guy mad at a former team where he put up the numbers and then not wearing their hat. It would be like Steve Carlton wearing an Indian hat to the Hall of Fame. Not defending them, but I think that is a concern.

If it were the team hall of fame, sure. It's for players and coaches. If Hawk wanted to choose to go in as a Marlin *shudder* he should have been able to.
