Doubleheaders

It was because of a rain out, but loved (and shocked) seeing the Rockies and Pirates playing a true doubleheader and both of them day games today. Very rare to see a true doubleheader let alone both of them during the day.

TV contracts and the general babying of the players (especially pitchers) have ruined one of the greatest things about baseball - the doubleheader. I remember watching doubleheaders a lot when I was a kid - hell, sometimes they would even have a doubleheader scheduled in season. Talk about a hell of a concept.

"Let's play two" has become "Well, I guess since it rained, we can play two, but we need 3 hours between games, and let's consult the networks before we do anything rash."

That was the concern with expanding the playoffs...lol. How could we shorten the season? Hmmmm....
