Goose Island IPA

Goose Island IPA

Postby houdinisangel » May 1st, 2012, 8:39 pm

India Pale Ale
5.9% ABV
Brewed/bottled in Portsmouth, NH for Goose Island Beer co Chicago, IL

I would take a picture but I sadly only have paper cups in the Q and so it's out of the bottle for me. The first thing I noticed was I had no bottle opener so an old wooden shelf below the window had to do for opening. After successfully opening the beer, the second thing I realized was that the wooden shelf was likely last painted with lead based paint in 1948. Third, this pretentious beer actually recommended to me that I drink it out of a tulip glass. Fuck that, now I want to break the bottle over the cashier's head that sold it to me at Fred Meyer.

It has some complex hoppiness however it doesn't stick around long. As soon as the tongue tells the brain "I think this is interesting" it finishes so clean that I have to ask myself if I actually took a drink at all. I think I over compensated on Untappd with a 3 cap rating but upon further review I hate this beer for thinking its special. My $7.99/6 pack could have been better spent on other things....like a bottle opener to open good beer.

Wow I'm a big Goose Island fan so I'm surprised to hear this. I haven't had a bad beer from them

Goose Island IPA

I'm sure I'm overly harsh since this was failed experiment #2 of the night (Moerlein IPA the other).

It really does have an interesting initial, spicy even, taste at the beginning but it goes away so quickly. Not what I was hoping for that's for sure. I even double checked the bottling date and had a second one at a colder temp...same result. Not my style.
