Below is the trailer for the eagerly awaited American version of the popular Swedish film Let the Right One In. Matt Reeves’ (director of Cloverfield) version, titled Let Me In, hits theaters on October 1. The foreign version is a critical and fan favorite, so this American version has a lot to live up to. Check out the trailer below…and if you haven’t seen the original version, pick it up and give it a watch. It’s very, very good. Brief synopsis -- A bullied young boy befriends a young female vampire who lives in secrecy with her guardian.
Earlier today, we posted the official one-sheet for Yogi Bear - the new live action/animated film that features Dan Aykroyd as the voice of Yogi and Justin Timberlake as the voice of Boo-Boo. Anna Farris also stars. Below is the first teaser trailer for the film which hits theaters this Christmas.
Dinner For Schmucks opens this Friday. If you don’t know much about this one, the official trailer is below. The film stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. Check our site for my review of the movie, which I had a chance to see last week.
This upcoming weekend at the multiplex, there will be good choice of films for moviegoers to choose from. Inception aims to stay on top as buzz for the Christopher Nolan film is still high. SALT is hoping to take advantage of the fact that it’s the only ‘true’ action film still near the top of the pack. As far as new releases go, Dinner For Schmucks opens and should do decent business. Audiences are looking for a good comedy and this may the one that holds them over until The Other Guys debuts next week. Steve Carell’s latest is going to be hit and miss. I went to a screening last week and the audience was divided. Although most enjoyed it, several people said they thought it would have been funnier. I enjoyed it, but my wife didn’t. Carell suits this role to perfection, and Paul Rudd is equally as good. The supporting players are also quite good. Check out my full review at

Another kid friendly family film hits theaters this weekend, as Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore arrives in 3D (of course, 2D as well). The continuing success of Despicable Me and Toy Story 3 may keep this 3D film from having a massive opening. Let’s face it, the film looks like a decent adventure for the kids and may even please the parents as well. Releasing it in 3D is also an added bonus. It has been nearly 10 years since the release of the original…and it grossed $93 million. As with most kid friendly films, the run time is short (an hour and 22 minutes), so the film will have lots of showtimes to help add to its gross.
The other big release this weekend stars Zac Efron in the first film he has had to carry on his own. Charlie St. Cloud makes no qualms about being a tearjerker. Judging by the trailer, that’s just the type of tone this film is aiming for. Zac’s High School Musical fans will probably turn out for this, and he may even be able to build his fan base with this more adult themed production. Good reviews are going to be important for this one to become a hit. So far, the few critics that have seen it have not been too kind. Most are saying that Efron deserves better than the material he was given here. Every young actor needs a good drama to jump start their career…so, hopefully audiences will give this one a chance.
Inception should still retain the top spot this weekend, as the buzz about the film continues to grow. SALT also has a good chance at having a decent second weekend, and could even fall back into its #2 slot…but I think it will get a third place finish.
Top 5 Predictions
***Charlie St. Cloud -- 13.3 million
