I don’t exactly see Washington’s view on this acquisition. You’re paying $100 million for a defensive tackle that is clearly only interested in money. The problem here is that he got the contract and guaranteed money he wanted, so now he has little incentive to play as he did entering his contract year. Not only did he clearly emphasize that money was the most important factor in his decision, but the Tennessee Titans did not try very hard to retain him. Does that tell you something about Haynesworth? The Titans would know Haynesworth as a player the best, and although they might not have had the money to pay him, they obviously knew that he was not worth the kind of money he was demanding. In any case, whether or not he will produce like he claims that he will, his contract is outrageously high for his position. All I can hear him saying is “show me the money.”
